My Great Escape {Kansas City Photographer}

A couple of months ago I found myself in a rut. I held my camera and felt nothing. There was no creativity, no excitement, there was nothing. With my first wedding of the year just around the corner there was no time for a mental block and I was stressed. When most women get stressed they go shopping, well not me. My stress reliever is the country; as far away from the hustle and bustle of the city as I can get. The following weekend, Chris and Trevor had other commitments, so I met my parents, brother, and nephew and headed out of town.
Of course, I had my camera with me. When we came to a small town, I fell in love. I fell in love with the old brick buildings, wooden doors, and railroad tracks! I talked Mackenzie and my nephew into letting me take pictures. I figured I would get one or two out of them before they became restless but boy was I wrong. They were pointing in different directions with “let’s go there” or “let me pose like this”. As I clicked away, that passion came back. I was feeling energized and motivated again. After leaving the small town, we headed back to my parents. Mackenzie wanted pictures with our horse, Misty and Cole of him bird hunting. It was like these eight year olds knew what I needed! I came home feeling refreshed and excited with this new chapter in my life! Here are a few of my favorite shots from my day away.

Love the morning sunlight!
